Race 8 No. 1 RUSSIAN TO THE BAR – ($4.20)

Luke Fenie produced RUSSIAN TO THE BAR to score first-up off an impressive trial earlier this prep. We kept Russian To The Bar under notice from that trial while we really liked Papavero Princess from a kind draw in that race. Chris Parnham lobbed into a beautiful position throughout yet we were counting our cash as the mare ranged up to put her head in front deep inside the furlong. Russian To The Bar responded in magnificent fashion by regaining the lead and coming away to score by over half-a-length. Strung another two wins together, including at listed level. Russian To The Bar Bullock’d his way into the clear to forge away with the race in a powerful display over the mile last time.

Race 5 No. 1 BOAB BOY – ($5.50)

Consistent galloper BOAB BOY can figure in the finish at Ascot Racecourse again on Saturday. Trainer Brett Pope has opted to claim with Madi Derrick this week as Boab Boy continues to rise through the benchmark ratings. We backed this horse when he won a midweek race at Belmont a few starts ago with Derrick settling him on the speed. Senior rider Lucy Fiore then attempted to lead throughout before Boab Boy was claimed close to the line. Fiore again allowed the horse to roll along at a fast tempo while following the leader into the straight here a fortnight ago. Boab Boy dropped that other horse shortly after straightening before pulling out all stops to win when challenged by the two horses who ranged alongside.

Race 7 No. 3 CERRIDWYN – ($7)

We marked CERRIDWYN as a horse of interest following a recent review from Ascot Racecourse. Luke Campell found himself caught without cover as he allowed Cerridwyn time to find his feet. The pace was on and Campbell chose to roll forward on his mount. Cerridwyn kept coming on a long run to herself into the placings while both the winner and second placed runner found softer runs. The brave effort backed up her win that came off the back of a superb Brad Parnham ride over this trip at Bunbury the start prior. Parnham found himself all curled-up on the fence and awaiting an out into the straight. He took the needle-eye opening with Cerridwyn bursting through to race away.
