Ascot Tips 18/03/2023

Race 9 No. 1 STELLAR VISTA – ($4.40)

Simon Miller Racing mare STELLAR VISTA hasn’t done much wrong in her first two runs this prep. She did make a mess of the start third-up at Ascot when she went down on her nose as the start was affected. Patrick Carbery soon had her into stride though with the pair settling to the rear of the small field. There were plenty of horses wanting to over race in front of them as the riders dropped anchor towards the front. Stella Vista handled herself well which aided Carberry in keeping her balanced upon straightening. Stella Vista finished off into the placings and will only strip fitter again for her first run out to 1400m this time in.

Race 1 No. 1 No. 1 SIR MAMBO – ($3.50)

Would have liked to have seen #WABlackbookers horse SIR MAMBO drawn in a bit more, however he does have speed and fitness on his side. Led at a good gallop and gave a good kick on straightening when winning midweek over this track and trip recently. Summer Dickson sent him to Saturday grade next where Sir Mambo again led at a fast tempo. He kept them all at bay until the shadows of post loomed with his stablemate Moi Choix getting over the top of him late. There is speed engaged as one would expect of a 1000 metre race at Ascot. Sir Mambo has plenty of fitness on his side and Taj Dyson can keep him going for another well-deserved win.

Race 3 No. 3 PRAWNS ELEVEN – ($5.50)

PRAWNS ELEVEN made some waves last prep as he made his way through the grades under Natasha Faithful. The pair put in a promising performance behind My Bella Mae in restricted grade before finishing down the track in the Placid Ark. Lewthwaite had him first-up at Pinjarra where he drew poorly for William Pike.  Prawns Eleven moves with plenty of quality despite doing things wrong in the run. He was trapped out a bit and followed Supersession into the straight. That other horse got away from him to score while Prawns Eleven kept working into his rhythm late. Will strip fitter again for racing over the unsuitable 1000m second-up and is likely to settle with Supersession back to his inside.
