BEST BET 🏆

Race 3 No. 4 DESERT VIXEN – ($3)

We saw DESERT VIXEN get out of the gates well to stride up closer than usual during a recent trial. She continued to the line largely under her own steam which had us believing that she would still be fresh enough for the 1000 metres first-up. Holly Watson took the ride for race day and she let the speed go early to settle back in the small field. The cutaway played its part into the straight with Desert Vixen finishing off strongly to score. Happy to stick second-up from a sticky gate for Watson to navigate with Desert Vixen stepping up in trip.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 4 No. 1 TIME SCALE – ($6)

The first-up performance of TIME SCALE was a ripper! Brad Parnham urged her from their wide draw to settle outside the leader in the big field. They set a cracking tempo out in front with Time Scale quickly putting paid to I’m All The Talk into the straight. Time Scale battled all the way to deep inside the 100m where she wasn’t beaten far by Burnya To Survive. Worked across from a wide alley once again when also going down late, this time to Brave Venture. Found the front a lot easier last time under Holly Watson when staying to six-furlongs. She was beaten by the sharper sprinters that day and is perhaps looking for the extra trip now.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 7 No. 8 THE LADY IS A VAMP – ($8.50)

The speed was on up front as THE LADY IS A VAMP came away evenly with them third-up at Ascot. Holly Watson found a spot midfield and one-off the rail as Born To Talk hummed along in front. She looked to follow Costume Party into the run who didn’t quite take her in as the winner Nobellity went for home. Watson continued to ride hard hands and heels as The Lady Is A Vamp finished quickly between horses. Bombed the start badly last time before being held-up entering the straight. Watson checked her off heels to come off the fence and circle the field. How we missed with her we’ll never know; one thing’s for certain though, The Lady Is A Vamp is due a change of luck.
