BEST BET 🏆
Race 5 No. 7 ROCK MY WAY – ($2.60)
Luke Campbell found a liking for the city life with an early treble on Saturday to remember. He settled ROCK MY WAY towards the rear of the field off an even tempo before peeling widest into the straight. Rock My Way let down beautifully once balanced to claim a good win over her more experienced rivals. Daniel Morton’s filly is still only lightly in the handicap ratings with plenty of upside to come. Morton now goes for the experienced rider in Brad Parnham as he steps the filly up in trip and against the older horses.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 8 No. 3 EMERALD TRADER – ($4.80)
Jason Whiting is building a successful association with Lynette Watson who trained her first winner when EMERALD TRADER rattled home to score on resumption. He was slowly away under whiting when the starter said go and the pair found themselves back at the rear of the big field. Emerald Trader was still many lengths off them on straightening for home at Belmont. Whiting must have gone into the race with some sense of belief in this horse and those two continually built between horses to pull off a stunning victory. He ground out another win over 1400 metres at Northam in a race where Emerald Trader always had the better of them without putting his opponents away. Cuttaway should suit with some pace on a Whiting can time his run with a bit of pressure on up front.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 6 No. 6 FEDERATION ROCKS – ($7)
The former Victorian galloper FEDERATION ROCKS made a handy start to his Western Australian career here a bit over two weeks ago. He was beaten for speed out of the gates with Luke Campbell hard at work to keep him from dropping out altogether. They were racing over 1200 metres and chasing a pretty smart galloper in Rear Admiral. Federation Rocks finally found his stride and circled the field as the widest on turning. He put in his run with the runner-up, Marri Martini with the pair outclassed by the eventual winner. Gets out to seven furlongs now where the pace won’t be so hot with Keshaw Dhurun taking a couple of kilos off.
