Ascot Tips 22/10/2022

BEST BET 🏆

Race 7 No. 1 SNOWDOME – ($2.60)

SNOWDOME had trialed aplomb heading into his first-up assignment at Ascot. We still suggested taking the shorts about the smart filly All Show even though Snowdome had accounted for her previously. All weights and measures pointed towards the filly turning the tables as Snowdome got out in the market. We felt the benefit of recent racing, plus the inside draw, and also the set weights and penalties conditions pointed into her favour. Instead, Snowdome tracked 3WNC on a hot speed to have the field covered from a long way out. All Show had been held-up behind the leaders; however, we’re not convinced she was travelling better than the impressive winner in Snowdome.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 2 No. 1 CAN’T BE DONE – ($5)

There was pace a plenty as Double Jeopardy hit the ground running at Kalgoorlie recently. CAN’T BE DONE was also away well and remained in close attendance throughout for Lucy Warwick who remains on board. Kalgoorlie trainer Peter Fernie also had the gelding stepping out for the new stable and must’ve been pleased with his Eastern-State import. Can’t Be Done knuckled down to task into the straight to nail Double Jeopardy, who also impressed. Both of these can go on and must be followed.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 9 No. 10 SPEED DREAM – ($9)

Roland Piercey sends his charge SPEED DREAM out on a different sort of prep this campaign as his gelding resumed over 1400 metres at Belmont. Speed Dream has shown enough brilliance to get back and get home late to win over the short course early in his career. He was away evenly with them first-up before going to the line okay as the marauding Let’s Galahvant found a needle-eye opening to score. Speed Dream ran into yet another good one while coming through restricted grade and staying to trip here as Karli’s Karma shot away with the race on straightening recently. Shaun McGruddy will give him every chance from the draw, and we’ll see what Speed Dream can do out to the mile now while now third-up.
