Ascot Tips 29/10/2022

BEST BET 🏆

Race 1 No. 4 LEXINGTON CITY – ($2.40)

The money came as expected for Laced Up Heels who was racing back in class following a luckless run behind Snowdome. We tried to catch her staying to the five furlongs while on a seven-day back-up with the fresh horse in LEXINGTON CITY. It all went oh so close to plan, with the filly spoiling our party right on the line. Not sure where she goes next; however, Lexington City gets another go at this level. He jumped beautifully for Patrick Carbery and showed all the early toe we’ve come to expect from him. Never shirked the task into the straight as the cavalry arrived and was only claimed in the last bound.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 5 No. 2 SPEED DREAM – ($6.50)

The plan very nearly came together for us with SPEED DREAM last week; in fact, we thought we’d won on the line. There hadn’t been a lot of pressure on paper and Shaun McGruddy was able to let Speed Dream roll into a forward position early. He let his mount come back off them as the pace started to build before stoking him up into the straight. It took one to come out of the pack and nail us in a head-bobber. Stays to the mile on the weeks back up while finding a race where the pressure should build from those wider gates.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 2 No. 4 SUCCESS PLAY – ($10)

Neville Parnham scratched SUCCESS PLAY during the week from what looked a winnable race. Success Play stays under notice after catching the eye when resuming over this track and trip last time in. He drew wide that day with the rider restraining him to a midfield position without cover. He came home hard under apprentice Keshaw Dhurun to look the winner inside the furlong. As usual, it took just one horse to peel off his back when My Dilemma claimed the close photo on the line. Drawn out again and senior rider Chris Parnham will look to find some before producing Success Pay into the straight.
