Race 6 No. 9 WUBIN GOLD – ($2.10)

The Colin Webster trained filly WUBIN GOLD showed an impressive turn of foot when beating the older horses at Ascot Park Racecourse. She settled back off an even speed under Troy Turner before letting down with her run up the middle of the track. Turner only had to keep the filly going under hands and heels riding as she came away to score a comfortable win. Wubin Gold ran a fast last 600m without being under any real pressure at any stage. We’d expect that she would come through the run in good order and Wubin Gold appears lightly rated to ability at the benchmarks. Those ratings convinced us to add her name amongst the #WABlackbookers, and we look forward to seeing what she can do on Saturday.

Race 9 No. 5 FAST FLICKER – ($3.25)

Tony Triscari has FAST FLICKER up and about while shooting for three-straight wins on Saturday. Settled at the tail in a fast-run 1400m race under Paul Harvey here last week. Fast Flicker let down impressively to have the race shot to bits approaching the 100m mark. He came away with a very soft win and must be respected coming into this off a seven-day back-up. Fast Flicker does meet a bigger field this week with a lot more depth then he has faced at his past couple. He still remains in a similar ratings band though, and we should expect plenty of pressure to be on up front again.

Race 5 No. 7 MARINSKY BALLET – ($6.60)

Our recent review from Ascot Racecourse led us to mark MARINSKY BALLET as a horse of interest. This was last start when Brad Parnham let her come back to around midfield in a fast-run mile. Parnham set her alight from the top of the straight after circling as the widest while turning. Lord Gannicus had kicked strongly after settling just in behind the leaders to deny Marinsky Ballet who kept coming. The winner was impressive in running a sharp time for the race while Marinsky Ballet will strip fitter again and should be ready to peak at her fourth run back.
