Race 5 No. 5 SUPER ALANA – ($4)

The Finniss Lodge trained SUPER ALANA races well at Balaklava and is nearing a win as the stable get her out to the 1400 metres. She was a dominant maiden winner over 1050 metres here when she was able to find the rail when resuming. Super Alana sat behind the speed before quickening along the fence to run a fast time relative of the day. Super Alana had been thereabouts since before catching the eye in a thin Class One at Strathalbyn last start. She jumped well before being heavily restrained under Justin Potter and travelling wide throughout. Potter circled the field early to put her into the race where the pair engaged in a battle up the Strathalbyn straight with Garrire. The latter held on for a narrow victory as both horses came right away from the others.

Race 3 No. 7 AGRESSIVE BEE ($10)

We’ll look for the hot form of Shane & Cassie Oxlade to continue at Balaklava Racecourse on Wednesday. They have consistent mare AGRESSIVE BEE drawn out a little with some pace back to her inside. She did get back with the speed on over 900 metres before grinding home okay on the soft track at Murray bridge two starts ago. Back to her usual best when spearing out of the gates under Nichola Yuen at Strathalbyn last start. The Oxlade’s had her out to a more comfortable 1100 metres at home where Yuen was able to dictate the speed. Agressive Bee did succumb to the finishing burst of Apache Gunship while holding the rest at bay. Nichola will be able to balance her up out of the chute over the 1050 metres with a hard-fit Agressive bee looking to notch a well-deserved maiden victory on Wednesday.

Race 1 No. 2  PLAISIR ($10)

We’ll side with track specialist PLAISIR to see if we can’t get off to a good start at balaklava Racecourse on Wednesday. The horse has won both starts over this track and trip while opening his account this prep with a second-up win over 1400m. They left him alone in front with Sheriden Tomlinson increasing the tempo to slip away into the straight. Plaisir had put the writing on the wall with a handy first-up run and he proved too strong in the run home under Tomlinson. His form has tapered off since in stronger races and gets his chance to re-enter the winner’s circle under senior rider Samuel Payne.
