BEST BET 🏆
Race 4 No. 11 AS TIME GOES BY- ($2.40)
AS TIME GOES BY get her chance in Race 4. The Anthony & Sam Freedman-trained galloper has had the six career starts for three minor placings and worked home well from the back of the field to finish runner-up behind Shezatempest when resuming at Pakenham on February 23. The daughter of Deep Impact was a big improver on benchmark figures when second up at her last preparation, finishing 5th at Group 2 level in the Edward Manifold Stakes (1400m) at Flemington last spring. The step up to the 1600m looks ideas and she should be hard to beat.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 5 No. 6 MELANIE – ($4)
This looks to be a suitable assignment for MELANIE. The four-year-old has had two runs this time in and worked home well at Bendigo over the 1100m when resuming to finish 3rd behind Smashing Eagle. She then tackled a BenchMark 64 at Sandown on March 1, settling handy before sticking on well for 4th behind Lord Paramount. She went 2.6 lengths faster than standard benchmark in that race, which is more than five lengths better than the next best last start figures of any runner. The daughter of Unencumbered drops in grade for this and should be nearing her peak at her third run.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 7 No. 4 SAILORS BOOK – ($2.60)
SAILORS BOOK should be hard to beat in Race 7. The Maddi Raymond-trained galloper has had the three career runs and resumed with a dominant win at Werribee before heading to Sandown on March 1, finishing 5th behind Dashing. The three-year-old was held up at the top of the straight that day before landing two lengths away, going four lengths faster than standard benchmark. This looks slightly easier and the son of Merchant Navy just has to run up to his last start effort to take this out.
