BEST BET 🏆
Race 2: No.6 RAYOCK ($2.60 with Neds)
Glen Innes galloper RAYOCK sees the Ballina track for the first time today and second-up, looks a strong chance of taking this out. Last start, the Sooboog mare was fresh off an eight-month absence when she beat all but one home in a Class 1 Hcp over 900m at the Gold Coast. It was a solid return to racing and the run will do her no end of good. She ran the trip out, 2.4 lengths slower than benchmark, the best here by more than 3 lengths. She also posted the fastest final 600m, 400m and 200m sectionals for the race. Ideally drawn in gate two today, she will strip fitter for that first-up run and take some beating here.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 6: No.3 STOINKA ($2.90 with Palmerbet)
Lismore visitor STOINKA has his first look at the Ballina track today and with good form on the board and a couple of gear changes, he looks right in the mix for victory here. Last start, the Hooked gelding beat all but one home in a Class 2 Hcp on a ‘Firm 2’ over 1301m on his home track. He ran that out, 1.9 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best in this line-up by more than 5 lengths. The stable have put the blinkers back on for today’s contest and removed the nose roll as well. Down in grade today, Matty McGuren sticks with him and if he can overcome the outside draw here, he will be running on and looks a solid chance at this level.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 5: No.1 DOOR INTO SUMMER ($3.60 with bet365)
Local galloper DOOR INTO SUMMER found her mojo fast this time in and looks ideally placed here to bring up career win number three today. Last start, the Real Impact mare came off a good win in BM58 company at Murwillumbah when she had excuses, finishing third in similar company at Grafton. She ran home solidly, covering her last 600m, 4.9 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field by more than 8 lengths. She also posted the fastest final 600m sectional for the race. Back on home soil today, she meets BM58 company again and although she does carry a little more weight, she has Matty McGuren in the saddle for the first time and gets the gun-run from gate two. She maps to be box-seating on settling and should prove hard to hold out from there.
