The Terry McCarthy-trained PANUARA BOY has made a late, but successful start to his racing career and looks the testing material in this contest. After winning on debut in a Moree maiden, he spelled for five months before returning to the track where he impressed by finishing second in a handy Class 2 field at Toowoomba. Then last start, the four-year-old beat all but one home in a Class 1 over 1010m at Coffs Harbour. Brooke Stower steered him to his maiden win and returns here for today’s challenge. He faces similar company here and fitter for those two runs back, he should prove to be a force in this event.

Race 4: No.4 JETFOIL ($7 with Ladbrokes)
The Helen Page-trained JETFOIL has been thereabouts in his three starts this preparation and should now be ready to produce his best today. Last start, the Snitzel gelding finished mid-field in a Class 2 Hcp over 1700m at Ipswich. Beaten just two lengths that day, he ran his last 600m, 1.4 lengths quicker than benchmark, second-best only to topweight Bold Contender (who is burdened with 63.5kgs today). Matty McGuren takes charge of Jetfoil’s reins for this assignment who jumps from gate seven today and maps to settle in the first half dozen. Race-fit after three runs back, he looks a genuine chance in this company.

Track specialist, PALAWA KANI lines-up here in search of a track hat-trick and has enough boxes ticked to suggest it can happen today. Last start, the Your Song mare made it two-straight here when she took out a Class 3 Hcp over the 1010m sprint. She covered the trip, 1 length slower than benchmark which is the best last-start effort in this line-up. Brodie Loy steered her to victory here two starts back and returns for today’s challenge. Already a three-time winner here over this distance, she is down in the weights and looks a serious contender at odds today.
