Race 2: No.1 MASTER JOE ($2.05 with Ladbrokes)
The Goulburn-based galloper MASTER JOE sees the Bathurst track for the first time today and brings with him a gear change and top form that puts him in contention here. Last start, the Unencumbered gelding made it three-straight podium finishes when he took home third prize in a Class 1 Hcp over 1000m at Canberra. He ran that out, 4.6 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best last-start effort here and a new personal best for him as well. The stable have swapped the blinkers for winkers today as Shaun Guymer is legged aboard for his first ride on the five-year-old. Ideally drawn in gate two here, he looks the ticket in this contest.

Race 3: No.3 SALISANO ($2.40 with TAB)
Bjorn Baker saddles-up SALISANO here who comes off a successful debut and looks set to go on with it today. Last start, he saw the racetrack for the first time and got the job done when he took out a 1000m Maiden at Orange. No stats are available for that run but he drew gate nine (of 10), crossed and led from barrier to box, fighting off the challengers to win by a length on the line. Mitchell Bell has the reins today and well drawn in gate four and fitter for that debut win, he should prove hard to beat here.

Race 4: No.7 POSSIBLY SO ($9 with Neds)
The locally-trained galloper, POSSIBLY SO, is high-flying this time in and looks well placed here to bring up the hat-trick today. Last start, the Star Witness gelding made it back-to-back victories when he took out a Class 2 Hcp over 1400m at Orange. He settled back in the field and left his run til the last moment but finished strongly to get there right on the line. Anthony Cavallo steered him home that day and sticks with him today (having ridden him to victory, here two starts back). He steps up in grade here but drops in weight and has placed twice from two previous third-up appearances. Ideally drawn in gate three, he looks a solid each-way chance in this contest.
