Race 2:  No.2  MOTION LEGEND  ($2 with Palmerbet)

The Bjorn Baker-trained MOTION LEGEND has found the podium at his past three starts and looks well placed here to go on with it. Last start, the Deep Field gelding came off his maiden win and wasn’t disgraced when he beat all but one home in a Class 1 Hcp over 1400m at Goulburn. He ran that trip out, 8.5 lengths slower than benchmark which is still the best last-start effort here. Today, it’s the same distance and similar company as Mitchell Bell returns after steering him to that maiden win. He gets the gun-run from gate one and maps to settle on speed. He will take beating in this contest.

Race 6:  No.3  BUFF IN DISGUISE  ($3.40 with bet365)

Warwick Farm galloper BUFF IN DISGUISE has been in good touch of late and on a quick back-up here looks well placed and ready to step up to the 2000m today. Last start, the five-year-old was ridden a treat by Nick Heywood and in the end, was just beaten by one better on the day. He settled mid-field, then joined the leader on straightening and looked the winner, but Smokin’ Soldier fought back strongly to go on and win. He steps up in distance today but drops 2kgs and is joined by Grant Buckley for the first time. Ideally drawn in gate four, he maps to settle in the first four and is capable of taking this contest out from there.

Race 7:  No.7  MAMELON  ($8 with Neds)

Orange-based galloper MAMELON is back here hoping it will be third time lucky and fitter for three runs this preparation she should be ready to perform today. Last start, the British-bred mare finished just behind the money as she stepped up to a Class 2 over 1100m at Bathurst. She ran her last 600m, 1 length quicker than benchmark, second-best only to Tiger King (who is third-up today and yet to see the podium after two runs back). Apprentice, William Stanley had his second ride on the mare that day and sticks with her here as he brings his 3kg claim along with him. The mare drops in grade today and will carry 3kgs less in weight as well. From gate six, she maps to be near mid-field on settling and as long as she doesn’t lose touch with the speed, she is fit enough to give this field a real fright at odds today.
