BEST BET 🏆

Race 5:  No.2  QUEST OF QUESTS

Locally-trained by Olivia Cairns, QUEST OF QUESTS is in great touch this time in and will be out to end a run of bridesmaid finishes in this contest today. Last start, the Spill The Beans gelding made it a hat-trick of runner-up cheques when he beat all but one home in a Class 3 Hcp over the mile at Ipswich. Stacey Callow had her first ride on the gelding that day where she gave him the run of the race (one out, one back) and steered him across the line in front of all but the leader that day. Dropping sharply in grade today, Callow remains in the saddle and a trouble-free run here should see him fight out the finish.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 3:  No.3  METAL ROCK

Gold Coast galloper, METAL ROCK is three starts into this campaign and looks well placed here for another career-win today. Last start, the Fastnet Rock gelding looked all at sea on the Gold Coast synthetic track (despite having won once on the surface), when he finished six lengths behind the winner in a BM58 over 1540m. He won first-up this preparation with Emily Lang in the saddle and back on turf today, Lang also returns at the rider for this contest. Down 3kgs today, all he needs is a bit of luck in running and he can figure in this contest.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 9:  No.13  REDSNAP

John Smerdon saddles-up REDSNAP here who gains a start (after scratchings) and second-up today, looks a sound investment in this contest. Last start, the Redente gelding failed (for the third time) on synthetic tracks when he finished mid-field in a BM58 Hcp on the Gold Coast poly track over 1100m. Back on the turf today, Adin Thompson is legged aboard for the first time as the stable decide to put the blinkers back on him for this assignment. All three career-wins have come over the 1200m trip and the six-year-old will appreciate the 5kg drop in weight as well. Already a two-time winner when second-up, an each-way ticket here looks the go.
