BEST BET 🏆

Race 1 No. 7 CAMERA ACTION – ($6.50)

We noted CAMERA ACTION from her recent second-up placing in a maiden at Pinjarra. Jordan Turner was caught out on a limb in a fast-run 1200 metre race. He allowed Camera Action to gradually work into the race from a midfield position with the horse continuing to come on into the straight and run third. They ran good time, being a little over 4 lengths slower than Wild Belle who cleared away with the Miss Andretti Stakes. Sean and Jake Casey then sent their filly to a strong 3yo race over the same trip at Ascot where Camera Action again drew poorly. She jumped sharply, enabling Chris Parnham to settle Camera Action outside the leader All Play. Camera Action quickened off an already fast tempo to open a gap inside the 200 metres. It took a race fit Snippy Which to come out of the pack and claim Camera Action on the line.  This field was a field littered with recent winners and Camera Action showed she is more than capable at just her third race start.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 4 No. 1 BOAB BOY ($5.50)

Coolup trainer Brett Pope takes the two kilo claim available from Madi Derrick who will ride BOAB BOY tomorrow. The horse ran time comparable with the better races on the day when winning his maiden under Lucy Fiore two runs back. Boab Boy had over raced behind the leaders before letting down powerfully into the straight. The horse was inclined to get on the steel again under Fiore in a slowly run race over 1300 metres here a fortnight ago. Fiore cuddled her mount deep into the straight after ranging up to hit the front from a near midfield position. The pair couldn’t quite hold out the late surge from Charming Belle who nailed Boab Boy on the line.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 6 No. 3 CASTILLO DEL LAGO ($8)

Pace mappers will have CASTILLO DEL LAGO and Nobel Knight settling one-two in the run as they did over 1400 metres here a fortnight ago. We’d prefer to see Castillo Delago stay to trip second-up after watching him lead at a good clip while resuming. He shook off Nobel Knight while giving all else the slip into the straight. Castillo Del Lago did have enough by the 75m and knocked-up to run fourth behind Dennis Choux. Does go up to the mile which is the query at this early into his prep. These two horses mentioned should be left alone out in front, and Castillo Del Lago can give some cheek at a price.
