BEST BET 🏆   

Race 1 No. 4 RUN PATTIE RUN ($2.60)

We were happy to take the fav on last week with Influencing as our Best Bet for Ascot on Wednesday. Influencing was ultra-impressive in running time to sit on the speed and score over the 1200 metres. This week however, we’ll be taking on Influencing as the race favourite at Belmont Racecourse on Wednesday. While Influencing did run time, he also did shorten stride considerably over the last 50m or so. This should play right into the hands of Steve Parnham aboard RUN PATTIE RUN who showed last prep that she may get over a shade further than six-furlongs. Put the writing on the wall when resuming up the straight five at Pinjarra. Run Pattie Run hit the line strongly over an unsuitable 1000 metre distance behind Magnalee and can finish full of running second-up over 1300 metres tomorrow.

Race 3 No. 2 ALIEN CLOVIS ($5)

Justine Erkelens sent ALIEN CLOVIS to Belmont for his Western Australian debut over 1200 metres following two trial wins. The former Victorian was ridden out of the machines with some urgency to find the front under Jade McNaught. The pair led at a quick tempo before knocking-up inside the 100m while not being beaten far by subsequent #WABlackbookers horse Miss Skyhigh. Alien Clovis improved out to 1400m second-up when settling on a good pace only to be claimed late by Alaskan who might be pretty handy. Disappointed last start when getting out over 1800m, though that Alien Clovis was perhaps beaten a little too soon. They did run time however, and Alien Clovis will be as fit as he could possibly be while coming back to the mile fourth-up.

BEST VALUE 💰   

Race 6 No. 6 DARK LOOKS ($12)

Thought DARK LOOKS trialled in a promising manner over 1000 metres here last week. He was away with them before coming back under Patrick Carbery to settle just off the speed. Wednesday’s rivals Storm leader and Cher had both stolen a march into the straight before Carbery slipped Dark Looks a bit of leather. Liked the way he came out after the pair late under his own steam and has drawn nicely in the middle for his return to racing on Wednesday.
