BEST BET 🏆
Race 5 No. 1 SHE’S A SWEET DEEL ($4)
The time is now for SHE’S A SWEET DEEL to break through for a win this prep. She’s pushed the window firmly open with three eye-catching runs over shorter trips. Jumped well enough to be forward of midfield over 1400 metres here and just kept coming from the top of the straight. She’s A Sweet Deal had a horse to her outside crowding her for room and yet she still finished hard to go down by half a length. Probably a shade disappointing last start as her trainers Chris & Michael Gangemi stepped her out to the 1700 metres. She did build into it, only to peak late her run and grind the last bit. Will get back from the draw and can atone with the claim for Brandon Louis.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 4 No. 2 MAJOR MAX – ($6)
The Ungainly MAJOR MAX must overcome a wide gate with some speed to his inside. Has impressed with raw ability to date and Peter Knuckey may just attempt to cross these. Major Max had shown good speed earlier this year during a 400 metre breeze-up in Belmont. Showed good control in coming back underneath his rider during his next outing five months later. Couldn’t get on the track when weakening out of it and yet still not beaten far to the speedy Just Go. Stepped to the six-furlongs for his second race start to follow the leader and looked to be coasting. Didn’t find a great deal as he became swamped late, and again, Major Max still hadn’t been beaten far. Will strip fitter and shapes as a horse to follow.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 6 No. 3 MISS LIVINIA – ($10)
We saw an impressive win up the straight of Pinjarra from MISS LIVINIA on resumption last prep. She rolled forward and despite wanting to lug and race keenly, she came right away from the others in the last bit. She followed up with a handy sort of run over the same at Ascot. Miss Livinia missed the kick by half a length before driving through to settle on the speed. Fought on strongly to finish amongst the placings in a good race. Tipped out after settling well back in the strung-out field and getting home strongly out wide. Since trialed under apprentice Ava Catarino who restrained her mount initially before Miss Livinia took control. We’ll put a line through the trial and our faith in senior rider Chris Parnham to get the best out of his mare.
