BEST BET 🏆
Race 7 No.4 POUNDING – ($3.80)
Best Bet comes up in Race 7 and it is POUNDING that should be hard to beat. The consistent galloper from the Peter Moody stables has finished in the top three at his last eight starts, winning three of those and resumed at Caulfield on July 23, finishing a narrow runner-up behind Big Apple over the 1200m that day. He settled back and ran on strongly, going a very healthy 10 lengths faster than standard. Second up last time he was a winner at Pakenham before winning at Sandown later on and placing in the $200000 VOBIS Gold Reef (1600m). The 2kg claimer, Kiran Quilty, rides and just needs to find some cover early on from the wide barrier.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 5 No. 1 SPANISH SNITZEL- ($5.50)
This looks to be a suitable assignment for SPANISH SNITZEL. The five-year-old seems to save his best for the track and trip and was a winner here three starts ago in a BenchMark 64 ahead of Storm King before missing out over the 2000m a Swan Hill in a BM70. At his latest run he returned to the 1600m here and settled back from the barrier on a slow tempo before running on for 3rd. Track at Bendigo remains in the Heavy range and that should suit, while he will save plenty of ground from barrier 1.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 6 No. 4 FIRST DIVISION – ($5.50)
FIRST DIVISION can bounce back in Race 6. The four-year-old was a strong winner at Bendigo over the 1100m three starts ago before battling at Ballarat. She has since stepped out at Sandown in a BenchMark 70, running a competitive 5th over the 1000m behind Teramia. The daughter of RICH ENUFF went 2.7 lengths faster than standard benchmark last time, which are the best last start figures of any runner. She drops back in grade and should get similar conditions to her win here three starts ago. Billy Egan rides and the pair have drawn barrier 3.
