Race 4 No. 12 STRAPPARSI– ($3.90)

STRAPPARSI can go one spot better than a first up effort that saw her finish runner-up at Ballarat on October 20. That came over the 1000m and the daughter of Deep Field showed good speed in the early stages before being overhauled in the final 100m by Drop The Verse. She went 3.3 lengths slower than standard, which is the best last start figure of any runner in this field and the second best that any have produced. The Lloyd Kennewell-trained filly should be open to improvement at her second run back and her third start overall. Look for her to cross from barrier 9 and take some running down.

Race 8 No. 3 SHEVROLET- ($4)

This looks to be a suitable assignment for SHEVROLET. The lightly raced six-year-old resumed over the 1000m at Pakenham on November 10 and settled back in the field of eight before reeling off the fastest last 200m to finish runner-up behind Charming Di. That came in a BenchMark 64 and at his second run at his last preparation, the Michael Kent-trained galloper overcame trouble in the run to knock over the handy Pounding at Yarra Valley last year over the 1200m with those two putting a gap on the rest. He won’t be far away in the run and the 3kg claim for the apprentice jockey, Lachlan Overall, gets him down to a winnable weight.

Race 6 No. 1 SHULTZY- ($10)

We stretch out over the Bendigo Cup distance of the 2400m and SHULTZY can go very close back in this grade. The five-year-old was solid when 7th during the Flemington carnival over the 2000m behind Flash Feeling at his most recent start, while he plugged into 4th place on the Heavy at Bendigo over the 1600m prior to that, beaten just half a length by The Talking Toff. The likelihood of a better track should suit the son of Helmet and from barrier 2, he should be strong at the business end.
