ANCHOR BET ⚓
Race 4: No.6 BANK BANK BANK ($1.50 with BlueBet)
The Ricky Ludwig-trained BANK BANK BANK remains unbeaten in four starts since moving north and looks all set to keep that trend going here today. Last start, the Written Tycoon gelding made it four on-the-trot when he easily won a Class 3 Plate over 1400m at Townsville. He drew very wide that day (gate 13 of 15) and travelled three-deep the entire trip and despite overracing in the middle stages, still made it look easy, going on to win by two lengths on the line. He is up in grade today but gets the gun-run from gate three and has Frank Edwards remaining with him for this contest (having ridden him in all four Nth Qld starts to date). The former Victorian appears to have settled in nicely for his new stable and he would have to do a lot wrong here to miss out on the winner’s cheque today. Use him as an ‘anchor’ for your multibets.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 6: No.6 TYCOON BEAU ($3 with bet365)
Locally-trained by Steve Massingham, TYCOON BEAU has his second start for the stable today and looks set for back-to-back victories today. Formerly with the Ben Hayes stable in Melbourne, the Written Tycoon gelding took no time settling in to his new tropical surroundings when he came from behind to win his track debut in a Class 2 Hcp, here over 1250m. He did it tough that day, drawing the outside gate (8) and lumping 60.5kgs for the event. He has drawn wide again today but the extra distance should see him cross and settle mid-field without too much trouble. Nathan Day boasts a 23% success rate with the stable and has the reins today. Fitter for that debut run, he looks a genuine winning chance again.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 5: No.5 RAISE DA VIBRATION ($3.80 with Unibet)
The Georgie Holt-trained RAISE DA VIBRATION is Townsville based but boasts a strong record here and looks ideally placed here to continue the good work at the Cannon Park track. Last start, the Eurozone gelding came off finishing fourth in the Townsville Lightning Hcp when he lined up in the Cairns Lightning two weeks later. He got the breaks that day and with Nathan Day on board, got the job done. Coming from well back on the turn, he finished too strong for them and claimed the trophy by almost a length on the line. He ran his last 600m, 4.6 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field, while posting the fastest final 600m and 400m sectionals for the race as well. This test is no harder as Nathan Day remains with him today. Drawn sweetly in gate four, he maps to drop back early and be doing his best work in the run home. Already a two-time winner at the track and distance, he can get the job done again today.
