Race 5:  No.2  CALL ME MO  ($1.95 with Palmerbet)

Shooting for back-to-back victories here, the Sharlee Hoffman-trained CALL ME MO is a Cannon Park track specialist and will take a ton of beating here. Last start, the Uncle Mo gelding clobbered his rivals in a BM70 Hcp, here over the 1250m trip. With ‘lethal’ Lacy Morrison aboard, the six-year-old put two lengths on them as crossed the line. He ran his last 600m, 2.3 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up, as he recorded his third win at the track on his eighth visit here. His four starts here at the 1500m trip have resulted in two wins and two runner-up finishes so he is no stranger to today’s challenge. With Morrison booked to ride stablemate Bonython here, Scott Sheargold returns for his second ride on the galloper and from gate six, maps to settle near mid-field with cover. Seven top-two finishes from eight visits to the track suggests this guy will take beating today.

Race 7:  No.1  WHEY MISCHIEF  ($2.60 with bet365)

The Steve Massingham-trained WHEY MISCHIEF got the job done for us last time and looks well placed here to bring up the hat-trick today. Last start, the American-bred galloper was heavily backed ($3.40 into $2.10) and our Best Value tip that day where he gave his supporters no cause for alarm as he finished all over the top of them, crossing the line 1.5 lengths ahead of the field with Nathan Day aboard. He steps up in grade today but carries a similar weight and has Nathan Day sticking with him here. With a trouble-free run, there is no reason why he can’t make it three-straight today.

Race 3:  No.3  SATURDAY VIBES  ($3.40 with Ladbrokes)

The unraced three-year-old, SATURDAY VIBES is now with his third trainer (Steve Massingham) and will call Cairns his home as he prepares to make his racing debut here today. The Denman gelding has been trialling well of later and takes up residence in a strong local stable. Brisbane-based jockey Ryan Wiggins has been booked for the ride and when Massingham and Wiggins get together, you take notice. Unraced, its unknown how he will jump from gate seven today, but taken on trust, he will most likely be pushing forward over the short trip here. He has had a busy preparation for this, being gelded and sporting blinkers and a tongue tie for his first race. He has good Denman blood in his veins and just might give us a bold sight today.
