BEST BET 🏆

Race 7:  No.3  SACRAMENTO  ($2.70 with Palmerbet)

The Waterhouse & Bott-trained SACRAMENTO is three starts into this preparation and having been set for this race, looks every chance of tasting victory today. Last start, the Pierro gelding wasn’t far away when finishing fourth in the Listed Randwick City Stakes over 2000m. Beaten just over two lengths, he still ran his last 600m, 5.6 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up. Tim Clark has tasted success with the six-year-old previously and is in the saddle for today’s assignment. Unbeaten over this trip on the Canberra track (two from two), he looks ready to perform at his best today and will take beating here.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 4:  No.8  LETHAL LADY  ($5.50 with BlueBet)

The Norm Gardner-trained LETHAL LADY is in good touch this time in and back to her home track today, she looks a genuine player here. Last start, the Smart Missile filly found the city class gallopers a little too strong, finishing mid-field in a Class 2 Hwy Hcp over 1000m at Randwick. She ran it out, almost half a length slower than benchmark, the best here and a new personal best for her as well. Back on home turf today, she is a two-time winner here and with a trouble-free run today, she can bounce back in this contest.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 6:  No.5  NINGALOO STAR  ($10 with TAB)

John Sargent makes the trek south today and here he saddles-up NINGALOO STAR who is shooting for the hat-trick as she sees the Canberra track for the first time. Last start, the Deep Field filly came off a good win at Newcastle when she franked that effort by going back-to-back at Canterbury in a BM64 over 1200m. She ran her last 600m, 7.9 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best last-start effort in this field. She also ran a new personal best, covering the entire trip, 2.7 lengths better than standard benchmark. The three-year-old has plenty of upside and shows big promise and looks a genuine contender for the Guineas today and at her (current) odds, is well worth an each-way ticket.
