Race 6:  No.6  SWEET HONESTY  ($5.50 with Palmerbet)

The Keith Dryden-trained SWEET HONESTY loves racing on her home track and well drawn here, looks the one to beat today. Last start, the Nicconi mare came off a BM65 win on this track when she stepped up in grade and wasn’t disgraced in finishing third over the mile trip here in BM70 company. Ridden a treat by Brendan Ward, she just met two others who finished the better on the day. She drops back in grade today where she faces a rise trip but has Ward sticking with her for the contest. Ideally drawn in gate two, she does no early work and with two wins at the track already on her resume, she looks right in this today.

Race 8:  No.7  WICHITA WARRIOR  ($5 with bet365)

Another from the Keith Dryden stable is WICHITA WARRIOR who has found his mojo of late and looks well placed here to go on with it today. Last start, the All Too Hard gelding made it two wins from his past three starts when he took out a BM70 Hcp, here over the mile. Rider, Billy Owen, showed all of his class and experience, steered the six-year-old out toward the outside fence on the turn (where the going was so much better), and while looking 100-1 inside the last 200m, defied what the eye could see and stormed home (with the better footing) to grab victory right on the line. He steps up in grade today but does drop 5kgs in the process. Dryden put the (front) bar plates back on for today’s assignment and ideally drawn here in gate three, he should prove a hard nut to crack again.
