BEST BET 🏆

Race 7:  No.9  SEMANA  ($3.50 with Ladbrokes)

The Maher & Eustace-trained SEMANA is yet to miss a podium finish from four starts to date and looks every chance of going one better here. Last start, the Winning Rupert filly came off an impressive Class 1 victory at Goulburn when she faced her first city class gallopers. With Tommy Berry aboard, she beat all but one home in a BM64 Hcp, here over 1550m, beaten a lip on the line. She faces a seven-day turnaround here and has Berry sticking with her for the contest. With good early gate speed, she maps to settle in the first half dozen and at her peak after four runs, she should prove hard to hold out tonight.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 6:  No.2  SAVOURY  ($5.50 with Palmerbet)

The Bjorn Baker-trained SAVOURY has been consistent this time in (without winning) and boasting a strong track record, looks in the mix here. Last start, the Savabeel gelding took on a strong field in a BM88 Hcp over the mile at Randwick where he finished just behind the placegetters that day, beaten less than two lengths on the line. He returns to Canterbury where his resume is glowing with four wins and two minor placings from his 11 starts here. Dylan Gibbons has the ride tonight, taking 2kgs off with his claim, as the six-year-old drops sharply in grade. He boasts multiple wins at this level and is aided here with a good draw in gate three. A two-time winner at the track and distance, he can give this contest a real shake tonight.
