Clare Tips 23/10/2022

Race 5 No. 8 SAND CAT – ($4.60)

Trainer Emma Hubbard has her bonny mare SAND CAT fast approaching start number one hundred with another win beckoning. Sand Cat got up to score at Gawler a few runs back before finishing close-up again. Hubbard gave her a little let-up with Sand Cat fitter for three runs back on a Heavy track at Gawler which had us backing her last start. We were hoping she could strike a firm track at Balaklava, and she was okay on a day when it was hard to make ground. Sand Cat loves it around here and we’ll expect a firm surface in Clare once again.

Race 3 No. 6 KINGSON – ($5)

Lizzie Annells can continue to ride her wave of recent success when piloting the Cozamanis stable horse KINGSON around Clare. Tricky track, however, the experienced Port Lincoln sprinter has shown to handle tight tracks in the past. Will have stripped fitter for the two runs back where he’s shown good gate speed in both. Kingson has come back under the rider beautifully and should find a good run in transit. There’s pressure out wide for Annells to exploit with a strong inside ride with cover. She can have first crack with Kingson as they begin their decent from the top of the hill and the horses fan into the straight.

Race 8 No. 4 BRAZILLIANT – ($17)

Good to see the return to the winners list of BRAZILLIANT in Jamestown recently. The capable nine-year-old had been kept ticking over by Darryl Oxlade, with the trainer sending him up North. Never troubled the scorer’s without being beaten far in the Northern Territory. Bumped into an affected track on Balaklava Cup Day which has never been to his liking. Jade Doyle controlled the 1340 metre race at Jamestown in the start following with Brazilliant responding as Augusta Rock loomed with momentum. Brazilliant dug deep to come away again, notching up win number ten. Since gave us plenty to scream about when giving a site at odds, and we’ll be on again from the good gate.
