BEST BET 🏆
Race 3: No.7 LADY WARDELL ($4 with Palmerbet)
The Stephen Lee-trained LADY WARDELL is third-up today and on the improve. Last start, she made it consecutive podium finishes when she beat all but one home in a 1260m Maiden on her home track at Ballina. She recorded the fastest final 600m, 400m and 200m sectionals for the race day. Fitter for two starts back, the Exosphere filly gets the gun-run from gate one here and maps to settle just behind the early speed which is mostly drawn out wide. With a clear crack at the them in the run home, she should prove hard to hold out today.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 4: No.4 ALL TOO QUICK ($4.20 with Ladbrokes)
Gold Coast galloper ALL TOO QUICK makes her track debut today and second-up, looks a big chance of victory in this line-up. Last start, the All Too Hard mare resumed after 12 months off the scene when she finished unplaced in a BM58 Hcp over 1100m at Ipswich. Beaten six lengths in the event, she was clearly in need of the run. She should find this contest a little easier and has Lani Allen sticking with her for the ride. She is already a winner when second-up (breaking her maiden on a heavy track at the Gold Coast), so the resume reads well. Drawn the fence today, she maps to sit just off the speed and with that first-up run behind her, the extra distance looks ideal now and she can give this a real shake.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 7: No.2 BEEF WEEK PRINCESS ($5.50 with TAB)
Lismore-based galloper BEEF WEEK PRINCESS has mixed her form this preparation but looks well placed in this contest to challenge for the main prize today. Last start, the Casino Prince mare came off a poor showing at Ballina (in a Class 3 event over an unsuitable 1010m) when she gave her all to finish third at Murwillumbah in a BM58 Hcp over the longer 1550m trip. Beaten just on a length that day, she ran her last 600m, 2 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up, and posted the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals as well. Danny Peisley was aboard that day and has the reins again here. Already a winner over the mile, she does no early work from gate two as she is expected to settle back in the field. Watch for a big late finish here.
