BEST BET 🏆

Race 7:  No.8  DUBBO WANDERER  ($3.10 with Palmerbet)

The Michael Mulholland- trained DUBBO WANDERER sees the track for the first time today and off a seven-week freshen-up, looks well placed here to bring up win number three for this preparation. Last start, the Wandjina gelding stepped out onto his first heavy track and made it look like a procession when he destroyed his rivals in a Class 3 over 1000m at Tamworth. Ploughing through Heavy 10 conditions, he took control inside the final 150m and left them to fight over the minors as he crossed the line more than five lengths ahead of them. He recorded the fastest final 800m top 200m sectionals for the race and set a new personal best, running the trip, half a length slower than benchmark, still the best in this field. Jake Barrett could be in for a big day as he sticks with the grey galloper here and with conditions to suit, he will take some beating today.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 8:  No.2  POINT COUNTERPOINT  ($3.80 with bet365)

The in-form POINT COUNTERPOINT lines up here unbeaten this time in and ticks the boxes to suggest he can take out this year’s Cup. Last start, the Bull Point gelding franked his Moree Cup win by taking on city-class gallopers and beating them home in a BM72 over 1550m at Canterbury. On a rain affected track that day, he raced wide for most of the journey and still ran his last 600m, 5.6 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up. He also posted the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race. Brooke Stower steered him to that Moree Cup win and is back in saddle today. Nicely drawn in gate six, he maps to settle better than mid-field with cover and a clear run to the line should spell trouble for his opposition. Shooting for the hat-trick today, he looks the one to beat.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 5:  No.4  TOULON FACTOR  ($5.50 with BlueBet)

Dubbo galloper TOULON FACTOR is back for a second shot at victory on the Coonamble track today and looks in the mix with two wins on the board already this time in. Last start, the six-year-old son of The Factor was shooting for the hat-trick but came up short, finishing mid-field in a BM66 Hcp over 1400m on his home track. He drew the car park that day (gate 11 of 11) and was trapped five-wide the entire trip, taking the home turn via the cape. His race was over at that point. Apprentice, Jake Barrett gets another chance here and after his 2kg claim, the horse carries a similar weight to last start. Ideally drawn in gate three today, he maps to settle just behind the pace, this time with cover and given a clear run home, he looks every chance of bouncing back today.
