BEST BET 🏆
Race 2: No.2 KAURAVA ($5 with Unibet)
Victorian visitor KAURAVA is second-up today and going by her resume, she will take beating here. Last start, the four-year-old mare resumed after a length six-month break and even on fresh legs, got the job done by breaking through for her Maiden win over 1206m at Benalla. On a Heavy 10 that day, she settled second and after taking over inside the final 150m, held them all at bay for a comfortable win. She faces similar conditions here (with another Heavy 10 to deal with) as she gets the gun-run from gate two and fitter for that first-up victory, she should prove hard to beat here.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 7: No.6 RAPID RUBY ($4.20 with bet365)
Albury galloper RAPID RUBY is back for her second crack at the Corowa track and her latest form suggests she is a better than even chance of victory today. Last start, the Rubick mare was fourth-up this preparation when she finished mid-field in a BM0-64 over 1400m at Wodonga. She ran the last 600m, 4.4 lengths slower than benchmark, second-best to Francesco Ben here (who returns from a let-up and has no fresh form to speak about and draws wide today). The step-up to the mile today looks a good move and she has Brendan Ward in the saddle for the first time which is a bonus. Drawn the fence, she gets the gun-run here and should be there at the finish.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 4: No.6 MISS ELSIE MAY ($6.50 with Neds)
Wagga-based galloper MISS ELSIE MAY is back in form after four starts this time in and looks a worthy contender in this contest. Last start, the Krupt mare had no luck in the run home but still managed to end up with third prize in a BM58 Hcp over 1000m on her home track. She ran the second-best final 600m behind Seventh Seal who carries more than a grandstand today, conceding Elsie May 8.5kgs even after his claim. The six-year-old has placed at her only start here and has four podium finishes from five starts on a heavy track so conditions here won’t bother her at all. Billy Owen sticks with her and with better luck in running today, she can give this a real shake at odds.
