BEST BET 🏆

Race 3:  No.3  INCENTIVE  ($1.70 with Palmerbet)

The Albury-based galloper INCENTIVE is in red-hot form this time in and looks the benchmark for this contest today. Last start, the well-bred Capitalist gelding came off a first-up win at Goulburn when he took on Class 2 company at Wagga and beat all but home that day. Leading from barrier rise, he looked home, but was grabbed on the post by a swooper, nosing him out of the major prize. He should find this event a lot easier and has Simon Miller sticking with him after being aboard for those two runs this campaign. Rock-hard fit after two starts back, he finished third at his only look at the track (three starts back) and looks set to bring up a win today.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 6:  No.4  HISPIRIT  ($3.30 with Ladbrokes

The Wagga-based galloper HISPIRIT is in great touch this time in and looks every chance of back-to-back victories here today. Last start, it was a case of three times proves it as the Hinchinbrook mare broke through in style to score her maiden win over 1000m at Albury. With Molly Bourke aboard, she led from barrier to box, putting 5.5 lengths on them over the line. She also posted the fastest final 800m sectional for the race. Bourke sticks with her today as the four-year-old gets the gun-run from gate one and maps to lead this lot on settling. Rock-hard fit after three runs back, she will take catching again.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 7:  No.5  CONTROVERSIAL MISS  ($9 with bet365)   EACH-WAY

The Craig Weeding-trained CONTROVERSIAL MISS has run into some form of late and this contest looks right up her alley. Last start, the Dissident mare made it back-to-back runner-up finishes when she beat all but on over the line in a BM58 over 1170m on her home track at Wangaratta. Trying to lead all the way, she was looking the goods until she was run down just short of the line, leaving her with another bridesmaid’s cheque. She has seen the track once previously, winning a BM58 with Jake Duffy in the saddle. Duffy returns here for today’s assignment and one from one at the track and distance, the mare looks a genuine winning chance at juicy odds today.
