Race 7 No. 1 SHEVROLET- ($5)

Giving SHEVROLET another chance in Race 7 at Cranbourne. The Michael Kent-trained galloper missed out for us at Bendigo on November 24 over the 1300m when 6th to Jet Jitsu. He was back in a slowly run affair before losing ground when forced wide on the turn and grinding home to finish four lengths away. He can bounce back from that and has attracted support in the betting, while he was solid in town at this stage of his last preparation.

Race 8 No. 5 KING OF SWING- ($14)

KING OF SWING shapes as an each-way player in the final event of the evening at Cranbourne. The five-year-old broke the maiden when resuming at Echuca earlier this preparation before rising in grade and running 4th at Mornington in a 0-64 on November 11. He settled midfield and just peaked on his run late in the piece. He went 1.2 lengths slower than standard in that race, which is more than four lengths better than the next best last start figures of any runner, while this looks slightly easier. Barrier 14 is a sticking point but he might be able to work forward and find a spot early on. Value at the price.
