We open up with the three-year-olds in action and LEGIO TEN should be hard to beat. The Godolphin galloper resumes and worked home solidly on debut for 3rd at Ballarat over the 1100m before finishing runner-up behind the handy performer, Berkeley Square, after that. At his last run before the break he bumped into the Caulfield Guineas (1600m) placegetter, Elliptical, running home strongly for 4th behind that horse. The son of Exosphere ran some solid times in those races relative to this grade and this looks a very winnable assignment for him in which to kick off.

Race 2 No. 1 COUNT NICHOLAS- ($6)
COUNT NICHOLAS can be an improver after a debut performance that saw him finish 4th behind Over Shady at Sale on October 5 over the 1108m. He settled handy that day but just lacked a bit of zip at the business end. The son of Toronado went 3.6 lengths slower than standard, which are the best last start figures of any runner in this race has produced. Eye Of The Eagle is the only other contender that has produced something better. Step up to the 1300m looks like it will suit and he can save ground from barrier 1.
