Cranbourne Tips 22/03/2024

BEST BET 🏆

Race 3 No. 7 CHILL THE KRUG – ($2.40)

CHILL THE KRUG can go a few spots better than a first up effort that saw her run 4th on March 6. That came at Sandown over the 1300m and she had plenty go wrong in the second half of the race when held up on a number of occasions before landing within two lengths of the winner. The locally-trained galloper went 4.4 lengths faster than standard benchmark, which is more than eight lengths better than the next best last start figure of any runner, and two lengths better than what any horse in this race has set. She should have improvement to come at her second run back and draws perfectly in barrier 3 with Daniel Moor to ride.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 6 No.7 STRAWBERRY ROCK – ($2.30)

SHE’S BULLETPROOF can get the job done in Race 6 at Cranbourne. The three-year-old resumed off an 11-week break at Flemington on Australian Guineas day, stepping out over the 1100m. She settled back in that race and ran on strongly to just miss behind Diamond Decorator and Illative, who has since come out and won. The daughter of Shooting To Win drops in grade and was a winner when second up at her last preparation. Look for her to run over the top of them late in the piece.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 7 No. 3 WISHLOR LASS- ($3.05)

PRECONI can end the night a winner. The Ciaron Maher-trained galloper has had a bit of a stop-start time of it in her career but was solid at her most recent start when an unlucky 4th at Pakenham in a Restricted 64 race over the 1000m. She was stepping out off an eight-week break and was held up in what was a slowly run race before working home well. This is slightly easier and she has fared well at the draw, while the 3kg claim for Luke Cartwright gets her down to a winnable weight.
