Race 3 No. 1 MISTER MONARO – ($4.80)
Proven weight carrier MISTER MONARO gets his chance to go back-to-back tomorrow and push his way into a new benchmark category. Mister Monaro ran out a comfortable winner in this class after trucking outside the leader under Anthony Darmanin He moved up to the inside horse and put paid to them on straightening, opening a good break on his rivals. Stays to track and distance while this race does not appear to have the same depth. Generally races better with a sit and Sonja Wiseman should find a nice trail off an inside draw.

Race 4 No. 5 CHAMPS D’OR – ($4.40)
We finally kicked a goal with CHAMPS D’OR two back as she scored over 1100 metres in Katherine. We specked her at double figures earlier this prep, only to watch as Champs D’Or had been unable to letdown for whatever reasons. Started to become convinced that perhaps the harder track of Darwin was more to her liking – just without the class rise. She put that theory to bed and got home well for us. With that confidence boosting win we chose stay on board last start over the sharper 1000 metres here. Stan Tsaikos was hard at work on his mare as the winner stole a march. Champs D’Or responded by jumping out of the ground to finish as the runner-up, while leaving a gap back to the rest.

Race 5 No. 2 AGAINST THE TIDE – ($6)
Adam Nicholls was hard at work early on the Emma Steel stable horse AGAINST THE TIDE as felt some urgency to hold a forward position last start. They were just too sharp for him over the six furlongs with Siakem doing it too easily outside the pair. That horse ran past him on straightening with Against The Tide finding again once balanced to just hold that margin. Far better suited out to the mile where Nicholls can control the race from the top and Against The Tide can go all the way here.
