Race 8:  No.4  GARIBALDI  ($3.70 with Unibet)

The Tony Gollan-trained GARIBALDI is in career-best form of late and as a track specialist here, he should prove the one to beat in this contest. Last start, the I Am Invincible gelding was coming off an impressive win the Listed Goldmarket Hcp at the Gold Coast when he had no luck in the Listed Weetwood Hcp at Toowoomba, finishing a close-up third, beaten less than half a length on the line. He covered the last 600m, 10 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up by more than 6 lengths. Already a two-time winner here over the trip, a repeat of that last-start effort would see him very hard to beat here.

Race 3:  No.6  ZINGALONG  ($4.20 with Palmerbet)

Sunshine Coast galloper ZINGALONG has hit the ground running in two starts this preparation and looks a genuine winning chance in this contest. Last start, the Falvelon gelding went one better than his first-up effort when he clobbered a Class 2 Plate field over 1000m on his home track. Putting 2.5 lengths on them, he ran-out his last 600m, 5.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field. He also posted the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race. Matthew Powell sticks with him here and already a winner when third-up, he looks a tough nut to crack in this contest.

Race 4:  No.7  GIULIA  ($6.50 with Ladbrokes)

Gold Coast galloper GIULIA is second-up here and going off her first-up effort, she looms as a real chance in this competition. Last start, the I Am Invincible mare made a good account of herself when she beat all but one home in a Class 3 Hcp over 1200m at Eagle Farm. She ran that out in personal best time, covering the trip, almost half a length quicker than benchmark. Samantha Collett has ridden her to two of her three career wins to date and returns here for this assignment. Already a winner when second-up, this looks ideal for her and is capable of giving this a real shake at odds.
