Race 5:  No.3  HOLD ON HONEY  ($2.40 with bet365)

The O’Dea and Hoysted stable saddle-up HOLD ON HONEY here who is third-up and poised to make it a hat-trick today. Last start, the Counterattack gelding came off a first-up Class 1 win at Ipswich when he came to town and saw this track for the first time. Facing Class 2 company, his winning margin was even bigger as he put two lengths on them in this 1110m contest. He ran that out, 3.9 lengths quicker than benchmark, a new personal best and the quickest here by more than 3 lengths. Stepping up in grade here, Boris Thornton sticks with him after steering him to both victories this time in. In the small field, the outside gate shouldn’t pose as an issue here and already a winner at the track, he looks the one to beat in this event.

Race 2:  No.5  SILVER GALAXY  ($4.40 with Ladbrokes)

The Matt Dunn-trained SILVER GALAXY is unbeaten in two starts this time in and looks well placed here for the hat-trick today. Last start, the Domesday gelding came off a crushing Maiden victory at Beaudesert (winning by more than four lengths) when he faced a BM58 field over 1200m at Ipswich. The end result there was almost as dominating as the four-year-old put two lengths on that 12-strong field. He ran the trip out, half a length slower than benchmark, still the best last-start effort here by more than 3 lengths, which was also a new personal best for him. Ryan Wiggins has been aboard for both wins this preparation and has the reins again today. Up in grade today but down in weight, he maps to settle mid-field and from there, Wiggins will give him every opportunity to claim victory here.

Race 4:  No.10  CAMPAI  ($13 with Neds)

Gold Coast galloper CAMPAI is third-up today after resuming in great touch and looks well placed here to crack her first win at the Doomben track. Last start, the Spirit Of Boom mare came off a first-up win in a Class 1 on her home track when she stepped up to Class 2 company for the first time and beat all but one home, here over 1110m. She ran a new personal best that day, covering the trip, 1.7 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field. Georgina Cartwright was aboard for that run and remains in the saddle today. Fitter for two runs back, she maps to settle mid-field and with a trouble-free run, she can give this a real shake at generous each-way odds.
