Doomben Tips 22/10/2022

Our form expert provides Doomben tips for today’s horse racing at Doomben Racecourse and gives his best bets.

Race 5:  No.8  FETCH  ($2.40 with TAB)

In red-hot form this time in, the O’Dea and Hoysted-trained FETCH has scored four top-two finishes from her five starts this preparation and looks ideally placed here to keep that trend going. Last start, the Sebring mare just missed out when she beat all but one home in a BM75 Hcp over 1000m at Eagle Farm. She also ran the fastest final 200m sectional and covered her last 600m, 9.5 lengths quicker than standard benchmark, the best in this field by 7 lengths. Ben Thompson has steered her to all four career wins to date and remains in the saddle for this assignment. A track and distance winner already, she will take beating here.

Race 4:  No.6  EXTREMIST  ($5 with Unibet)

The Robert Heathcote-trained EXTREMIST is unbeaten in two starts this time in and looks the one to beat again in this contest. Last start, the Extreme Choice mare clobbered them in a Class 3 Plate over 1200m at Eagle Farm. Putting almost two lengths on the 10-strong field, she ran the fastest final 200m sectional while covering the trip, 4.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best last-start effort here. Angela Jones sticks with her here and already a two-time winner over the track and trip, she should prove hard to beat.

Race 9:  No.8  COULDN’T REFUSE  ($8 with Neds)

Desleigh Forster saddles-up COULDN’T REFUSE here and boasting three wins this time in, he looks the testing material in this event. Last start, the Rothesay gelding destroyed his rivals at Toowoomba where he put two lengths on them in a BM80 Hcp over the mile trip. He ran it out, 5.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up. Jim Byrne remains aboard here after steering the six-year-old to five of his eight career wins to date. He gets the gun-run here from gate one and already a three-time winner over the Doomben mile, he stands-out here at a real winning prospect.
