Race 4:  No.4  ANTINO  ($1.85 with bet365)

The Tony Gollan-trained ANTINO is unbeaten in two starts and looks primed to keep that record intact today. Last start, the lightly-raced Redwood gelding resumed off a lengthy nine-month break and was impressive in winning a Class 1 Plate over 1200m at the Sunshine Coast. That day, he matched strides with Pocket Full and did best on the line to grab the major prize, with the pair of them putting 5.5 lengths on the rest of the field. He ran his last 600m, 7.7 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field and posted the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals as well. Second-up and even fitter today, James Orman sticks with him and surely just bad luck can beat him here. He is our ‘Anchor Bet’ for the day.

Race 8:  No.9  ZAVABOOM  ($2.45 with Neds)

Tony Gollan nominated ZAVABOOM for two races today and has elected to run him here where he is third-up, ideally drawn and ready to win. Last start, the well-bred Spirit Of Boom gelding looked in need of that second-up run where he took home second prize in a Class 3 Hcp over 1200m at Eagle Farm. He still ran his last 600m, 5.9 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up. James Orman has ridden him to both career wins to date and has the job again today. He gets the gun-run form gate one and maps to settle near mid-field on the fence. With a trouble-free run here, he can take this one out today.

Race 3:  No.5  SPIRIT PRINCESS  ($6 with bet365)

The Robert Heathcote-trained SPIRIT PRINCESS resumes today and fresh off a winning trial looks set for a first-up victory. Last start, the Spirit Of Boom mare ended her last campaign in real style when she took out a BM60 Hcp over 1000m on the synthetic track at the Sunshine Coast. Racing on that surface for the first time, she had Zac Lloyd aboard and he drove her to the line where she put three lengths on them that day. Spelled after that, she returned to work last month where she won a 1000m barrier trial on this track. Zac has the day off today so brother Jaden steps in for the ride here where he maps to have the mare settling near the speed. The Heathcote stable have a good record with fresh horses and this appears to be no exception today with the four-year-old looking well placed at the trip.
