Tony Gollan saddles-up ZAVABOOM here and after three-straight runner-up finishes, all his frustrations can end with a change of luck today. Last start, the Spirit Of Boom gelding was sent out favourite for the third-consecutive time, and for the third time, came back to scale finishing second again in a BM70 Hcp, here over 1200m. He ran his last 600m, 2.6 lengths quicker than benchmark, still not good enough to claim the winner’s purse, but the best in this line-up. James Orman sticks with him today (having ridden him on seven previous occasions). Drawn in gate seven, he will just need a clear run to the line to break this run of bridesmaid finishes and collect that long awaited first prize this preparation.

Race 6:  No.3  DZSENIFER  ($5.50 with Palmerbet)

Sunshine Coast galloper DZSENIFER boasts a strong record here and ticks all the boxes to suggest she will take beating today. Last start, the Scissor Kick mare was fresh off a 16-week spell when she impressed by finishing fifth (beaten less than two lengths) in the Mooloolaba Cup over 1600m. She ran that out, 3.2 lengths quicker than benchmark, third-best effort behind Couldn’t Refuse who looks her most likely danger here. The five-year-old, however, is still fresh, while she will strip fitter for that first-up effort. Already a two-time winner when second-up and has won twice here over the distance as well, Taylor Marshall sticks with her and with a trouble-free run here, she will take beating today.
