Race 5:  No.4  PALAZZO PRINCE  

The Rod Northam-trained PALAZZO PRINCE could not have been more impressive in his debut performance and he looks all set for back-to-back victories today. He stepped out onto his home track at Scone for the first time and travelled four-wide without cover to the turn. Quite entitled to throw the sponge in, he kept finding more and under hands and heels only, Reece Jones steered him to what was an effortless win in the end. Chelsea Hillier has the reins today and after her claim, the four-year-old carries 2kgs less than his last start win. From gate six, he maps to settle better than mid-field and should secure a sit closer to the fence than last start. A repeat of his maiden effort will see him hard to beat here.

Race 8:  No.11  BRIEF STATEMENT  

Alison Smith saddles-up BRIEF STATEMENT here who is based in Orange but has a strong track record here and second-up today, looks right in the mix and a big chance for back-to-back victories. Last start, the Press Statement mare resumed off a lengthy six-month stint in the paddock when she impressed with a strong win in a BM58 over 1010m at Orange. First-up, she had to lump 61kgs and travelled three-deep without cover all the way to the line. The five-year-old has now had five four starts at this track for a win and three minor placings. William Stanley was aboard for that first-up win and his resume shows he has been aboard for six rides on the mare, resulting in two wins and a minor prize as well. She gets the favours at the start today where she jumps from gate three and maps to be box-seating on settling. Should that turn out to be the case, she will prove hard to hold out here.

Race 4:  No.3  COMPETITION  

The Cameron Crockett-trained COMPETITION is third-up today and back on top of the ground, will give this contest a real shake at odds. Last start, the Shooting To Win gelding was second-up and had a Heavy 10 to deal with at Armidale which brought him unstuck as he finished mid-field in the BM66 Hcp over 1400m. That was his third run on a heavy track where he is yet to finish in the money. Today he has a new pilot with Mathew Cahill taking the reins and with both career-wins coming on dry tracks, he should relish the Good 4 conditions today. Already a winner when third-up, he looks great value with the bagmen and well worth an each-way ticket today.
