The locally-trained MAJORITY is second-up today and looks ideally placed to bring up career win number five here. Last start, the Sebring mare resumed from an 18-week spell when she finished a close-up third in a BM58 Hcp, here over 1120m. Carrying 60kgs that day, she raced wide (without cover) throughout and did well to finish within a length of the winner. Grant Buckley has his first ride on the mare today who is unbeaten (in two starts) at this trip. With a trouble-free run here, she looks the testing material.

Race 6: No.4 ISLAND PRESS ($9 with Palmerbet)

Bathurst galloper ISLAND PRESS returns to country racing today and looks ideally placed to give the Cup a real shake. Last start, the Press Statement gelding came off a big win on this track when he tackled a BM64 field over 1400m at Newcastle. Drawn wide (gate 9) and carrying 60kgs, the task proved a little too big for him that day as he finished last of the twelve runners. His resume shows he has an outstanding record in the country, showing he is unbeaten in two starts on this track. Anna Roper returns for the ride today who has already had success with the four-year-old. After her claim here, he carries 4.5kgs less than last start and from gate two, maps to be possibly box-seating on settling. Forget his last run, he looks much better placed here and is more than capable of taking this out at generous each-way odds today.
