Our form expert provides Dubbo tips for today’s horse racing at Dubbo Racecourse and gives his best bets.

BEST BET 🏆

Race 2:  No.9  SKYFORGER  ($2.60 with BlueBet)

Moree-based galloper SKYFORGER has done it all but win this preparation, however that can all change today. Last start, the Deep Field gelding found the podium for the fourth time in five starts but it was only to collect another minor prize. This time he finished third in a 1300m Maiden at Gunnedah, beaten less than a length on the line. He managed to record the fastest final 800m-200m sectionals for that race as punters sent him out a white-hot $1.70 favourite. A change of rider may spark the former Victorian galloper today with Ben Looker taking the reins. He gets all the favours after drawing the fence and maps to settle just off the speed with cover. A trouble-free run here should see him finishing strongly again and back to the 1400m today, he looks the one to beat.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 4:  No.4  THE HUNGARIAN  ($3 with bet365)

Paul Messara saddles-up THE HUNGARIAN here who will be out to go one better today. Last start, the Snitzel gelding was a tragedy beaten when finishing second in a Class 1 Hcp over 1450m at Muswellbrook. Drawn the outside gate (10) and carrying topweight that day, he was trapped three-deep without cover early, then mid-race, Aaron Bullock pushed forward looking for some relief in running (which never came). He still took over passing the 200m mark but was collared by a back-marker (Agirlsbestfriend), carrying 4kgs less to the line. He gets the gun-run from gate one in this contest and fitter for three runs back, he should take beating today.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 7:  No.7  SILVER SCISSORS  ($10 with Ladbrokes)

Local galloper SILVER SCISSORS is yet to miss a podium finish on her home track and second-up today, looks a genuine player for the main prize. Last start, the Scissor Kick mare was fresh off a 10-week break when she finished third (of 13) in a Class 1 Hcp, here over an unsuitable 1100m. She steps up in grade today but more importantly, she returns to the 1300m trip where she is a winner. After the claim, she drops 3.5kgs for this event and from gate six, maps to settle mid-field with cover. Fitter for that first-up run and placed when second-up last preparation, a clear run to the line here should see her fighting it out and at each-way odds today.
