BEST BET 🏆

Race 5:  No.9  HURN COURT  ($3.50 with Palmerbet)

Local galloper HURN COURT is second-up here and all things point to a big improvement today. Last start, the Outreach gelding returned from a 13-week spell and faced a Hwy Class 3 field over 1000m at Randwick. A strong test on fresh legs, he finished mid-field that day, clearly in need of the run. He still ran the trip out, half a length slower than benchmark, the best last-start effort here by more than six lengths. Today he is back home in country class with Clayton Gallagher back on board for his fourth ride on the five-year-old (having already saluted with him). He has a win and two runner-up finishes from four previous second-up performances and is a track and distance winner as well. The runs are on the board and point to a victory today.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 1:  No.6  ALL WORDS  ($5.50 with bet365)

The locally-trained ALL WORDS is third-up today and ticks enough boxes here to be considered a real threat. Last start, the Star Witness gelding proved (once and for all) that heavy tracks are not for him when he finished last (of four) in a BM66 Hcp over 1400m at Scone. Today should be a different story with his stats suggesting a big improvement can be expected. He is a winner here and has Grant Buckley aboard who has steered him to three of his four career victories to date. He is also a two-time winner on soft tracks and is already a winner when third-up. Jumping from gate two today, he maps to settle behind the pace and will have the last crack at them in the run home. At the odds, he looks far better value than race-favourite (Pee Dee) who sees this track for the first time and is yet to win beyond 1300m. Buckley’s success with the five-year-old can shine today.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 9:  No.13  MISS TWENTY TWO  ($7 with Palmerbet)

The Dar Lunn-trained MISS TWENTY TWO has found the podium in four of her past five starts and down in the weights here, looks a genuine contender for the main prize today. Last start, the Shooting To Win mare put up a mighty show on a Heavy 10 to come from behind and grab third money in a BM58 Hcp, here over the mile. Back to soft conditions today where she is already a two-time winner, Clay Gallagher has the reins for the first time and from gate seven, maps to settle mid-field with cover. If she is close enough to them on the turn, she can finish strongly here and be a genuine contender for victory at (currently) good odds today.
