BEST BET 🏆
Race 1: No.1 HIGHLAND SON ($4.60 with Picklebet)
The Stuart Kendrick-trained HIGHLAND SON is in line for a hat-trick today and he looks well placed here to pull it off. Last start, the Bel Esprit gelding made it back-to-back wins when he destroyed a Class 5 field over the 1000m sprint at the Sunshine Coast. With James Orman aboard (having ride number eight on the galloper), he took over passing the 200m post and left the rest to sort out the minors as he crossed the line more than three lengths ahead, eased down over the final 50m. He ran his last 600m in 33.7secs which is impressive considering he wasn’t stretched out at all. He is clearly in the groove and will take beating here.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 8: No.12 KINETIC ($3.50 with bet365)
Tony Gollan saddles-up KINETIC here and boasting an outstanding resume, looks more than capable of saluting today. Last start, the I Am Invincible mare was second-up and despite being unwanted in the betting ($8 – $14), she caused a major upset when she beat home the $1.35 favourite (Rovers Pepper). Coming from back in the field, Ben Thompson peeled her wide on the turn and she simply finished too well for them in the BM65 Hcp over 1350m at Ipswich. Her resume shows the four-year-old has finished top-two in five of her past six runs and that is form that can’t be ignored. Stepping-up to the mile for the first time today, she is fitter for two runs back and will take beating here.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 3: No.7 HELIKEDEMPRETTY ($4.60 with Bet Right)
The Robert Heathcote-trained HELIKEDEMPRETTY gave a solid display on debut and looks set here to go one better today. Last start, the Pariah filly showed good early speed to lead on settling. Nearing the turn, the three-year-old was galloped on (lacerations found post-race) she did well to hang on for second that day. Fitter for that run and with the experience behind her now, she can only improve here. Mark Du Plessis sticks with her today and although drawn out, she should have no trouble crossing from barrier eight to lead them on settling. She is stepping up in distance here but should have fitness to handle that and will take catching in this contest.
