Eagle Farm Tips 03/08/2022

BEST BET 🏆

Race 2 No. 5 OUR ARMISTICE – ($3.80)

We’ll stick with OUR ARMISTICE who we highlighted as a bet last start. We had already identified this mare from the Steven O’Dea & Matthew Hoysted yard following a barrier trial on the Sunshine Coast. We let her go around without us on debut in town before deciding to have a look at the each-way price last start. Not sure she was suited by the slower pace out to six furlongs as she didn’t really quicken when required from top of the straight. Our Armistice went to the line with those four horses who broke clear of the rest. Moved beautifully in those trials plus showed good pace this trip on debut and will strip fitter here.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 4 No. 8 EVITA LA VIE – ($6)

There is still plenty of room for improvement in the mare EVITA LA VIE who is coming into her fourth run this prep. Trainer Chris Meagher keeps her to trip after Tegan Harrison found a nice trail into the race from midfield last time out. Today’s rival Za Ceibas led them up at an even gallop and had only just been edged out of the placings late. There appears to be a little more pressure up front this time which should suit Evita La Vie, and she can like that city form with a horse we know will handle the trip.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 5 No. 4 NOBLE CAT – ($6.50)

Love the intent from Barry Lockwood about NOBLE CAT here. His horse debuted over 1350 metres at Ipswich on the heavy 10 back in May. He was well supported in the market that day and gutsed it out with a strong on-pace effort to be beaten half a length into second. Given a trial between runs before making an early race move to hit the front prior to turning at Doomben. Nobel Cat kept going strongly to score a good win over 1660 metres before again returning to the trials. Jimmy Orman attempted a similar early race move at the Sunshine Coast which left Noble Cat in front from a long way out. It took all of the straight for A Big Chance to nail him on the line in a close go. Lockwood has scratched from the 1850 metre race today to keep Noble cat to the mile.
