BEST BET 🏆

Race 3:  No.3  TYPHOON TAAVI

The Tony Gollan-trained TYPHOON TAAVI is in another postcode lately and looks all sett to bring up the hat-trick here. Last start, the well-bred I Am Invincible mare destroyed her rivals in a BM70 over 1200m at Doomben. It was no surprise to see the winning margin show up as four lengths when the registered time for the 1200m came up as 1:08.8 for the journey. Tahlia Fenlon has steered the mare to her last two victories and has the reins again for this assignment. If anything beats her here, they will surely claim first prize.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 4:  No.11  BLAKMAX

Tony Gollan saddles-up BLAKMAX here who is high flying of late and second-up today, looks well placed to go one better here. Last start, the Brazen Beau gelding was outclassed by his stablemate (Typhoon Taavi) but still ran a bold race to collect the runner-up cheque as he beat the other 10 runners to the line. Drawing the outside gate (12) that day, Vlad Duric rode him a treat, considering he had to it all from the back of the field. Angela Jones takes over here and the four-year-old is already a two-time winner when second-up. He is up in grade here but drops 7.5kgs (or a stone on the old scale) and fares much better at the barrier, jumping from gate three in this contest. There’s plenty to like about his chances as he lines up shooting for eight-straight podium finishes.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 8:  No.9  WEE NESSY

Three starts into this campaign, WEE NESSY comes into this contest as a Group 2 winner and looks well placed across the board to give this contest a real shake. Last start, the Snitzel mare made it third-time lucky when she easily accounted for them in the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes (1200m) at Randwick with Jamie Kah in the saddle. Sticking to the fence, she proved too strong in the run home, winning by more than a length on the line, running the trip in 1:09.04. She gets the gun-run here from gate one and welcomes new pilot, Adam Hyeronimus who has his first ride for the stable. She maps to settle two or three pairs back on the fence and scoring clean air in the run home, she can figure here.
