BEST BET 🏆

Race 3:  No.6  TOWN CRIER  ($2.90 with Ladbrokes)

The O’Dea & Hoysted Team saddle-up TOWN CRIER here for his second race-start and first-up wearing the blinkers today, he looks a good thing on fresh legs in this contest. Last start, the Spirit Of Boom gelding made his racing debut and ridden a real treat by Boris Thornton, did it easy in the end and took out a 1200m Maiden Plate on this track. He trialled last week and finished second of the four over 1050m on the Deagon track. Thornton sticks with him here and with a trouble-free run, he shapes up as the one to beat.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 9:  No.7  LIGHT OF BOOM  ($9.10 with BoomBet)

The Adam Campton-trained LIGHT OF BOOM is three starts into this campaign and looks well placed here to bring up career win number six today. Last start, the Spirit Of Boom gelding was third-up and showed improvement when he beaten less than two lengths in his first crack at Open company, here over 1200m. Angela Jones was aboard for her first ride on the gelding and turning for home, he was mid-field and held-up for a run. He ran home stoutly, holding his line and wasn’t disgraced in the run, taking on much harder company on the day. Campton scratched him on Saturday to run here and Jones remains in the saddle for this assignment. At his peak today, he should give us a real run for our money at each-way odds.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 7:  No.2  CRAZY BRAVE  ($10 with Palmerbet)

The Annabel Neasham-trained CRAZY BRAVE is third-up today and also sporting blinkers for the first time, looks in the mix at odds today. Last start, the Zoustar gelding was second-up at Ipswich and sent out a $2.40 favourite but had to settle for third prize that day in a Class 1 Plate over 1350m. That was his fifth podium finish in a six-start career to date so he lacks nothing in the consistency stakes. Bailey Wheeler has the reins today and after his 2kg claim, the four-year-old carries 2.5kgs less than last start. He draws well in gate five and maps to settle just off the speed. With a clear run to the line, he is in this contest up to his neck and is well worth an each-way ticket in this company.
