BEST BET 🏆

Race 3 :  No. 2  FAST TALKING  ($3 with Unibet)

The David Vandyke-trained FAST TALKING is in career-best form of late and looks set to go on with it here. Last start, the Walking Or Dancing gelding gave nothing else a chance when he put 2.5 lengths on them in a BM90 Hcp over 2200m at Doomben. On a Heavy 8 that day, he ran his last 600m, 4.8 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field, while recording the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race as well. Meeting similar company here, he draws nicely in gate five and maps to settle just behind the pace. Kyle Wilson-Taylor has saluted on three previous occasions with the eight-year-old and has the job again here. Form is hard to fault. He can win again in this contest.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 8 :  No. 4  PUNTURA  ($4.20 with Palmerbet)

Shooting for the hat-trick here, the Barry Baldwin-trained PUNTURA looks nicely placed to bring up career-win number eight in this contest. Last start, the Our Vespa gelding recovered from overracing in the early stages to win a BM90 over the mile on a heavy track at Doomben. He ran a new personal best that day, covering the trip, 12.1 lengths quicker than benchmark. He also recorded the fastest final 400m and 200m sectionals for the race. Already a two-time winner at the trip, Mark Du Plessis remains aboard and is looking for his fourth win with the five-year-old. Ideally drawn in gate four, he gets the run of the race from there and should take beating again.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 6 :  No. 13  SCHILLER BAY  ($9.50 with Palmerbet

The Jenny Graham-trained SCHILLER BAY is first emergency here but secures a start after early scratchings and if he runs here, he will be right in the mix among these. Last start, the Artie Schiller gelding came from well back to finish a gallant third in a Class 6 Hcp, here over the 1000m sprint. He covered that trip, 5.9 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best here by more than 3 lengths. That was also a new personal best for him. He loves the 1000m trip, racking up three wins (and two minor placings) from six starts at the trip already. If he can overcome the wide gate here, he should be fighting out the finish at good odds.
