Our form expert provides Eagle Farm tips for today’s horse racing at Eagle Farm Racecourse and gives his best bets.
BEST BET 🏆
Race 6: No.8 CAESARIS ($4.60 with Neds)
The Tony Gollan-trained CAESARIS has been hot and cold with her form this time in but with conditions to suit here, she looks a genuine winning chance in this contest. Last start, the Capitalist mare faced her first heavy track and left no doubt she is not a mud-runner, finishing well back in a BM68 Hcp over 1110m at Doomben. Her resume shows eight starts on dry tracks for three wins and four minor placings so the forecast Good 4 today will be right up her alley. James Orman boasts a 23% strike rate with the Gollan camp and is having his second ride on the mare today. Ideally drawn in gate two, she maps to settle in the first half-dozen and with the blinkers back on again today, she has strong claims to bounce back a winner here.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 2: No.3 DARK CHILL ($3.20 with Palmerbet)
The David Vandyke-trained DARK CHILL has improved with three starts this preparation and now looks ready to win. Last start, the Dawn Approach gelding finished third in a Class 1 Hcp over the mile at the Sunshine Coast. That was his first look at the Corbould Park track and the Soft 6 conditions may have a played a role as well. His only career-win (to date) came on a Good 4 at Doomben last preparation. He is back on top of the ground today as Ben Thompson sticks with him for this assignment. At his peak today, he looks a genuine player in this field.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 7: No.9 KERNEL BOOM ($11 with Bet Right)
Locally-trained by Robert Heathcote, KERNEL BOOM sees his home track for the first time (under race conditions) today and fitter for two runs back, looks a real chance of staking a claim here at odds. Last start, the Spirit Of Boom gelding came off a first-up win when he finished third in a Class 2 Hcp over 1000m at the Sunshine Coast. Martin Harley has his first ride on the four-year-old today who meets similar company here but steps-up for another crack at the 1200m. Race tactics with play a major role here and from gate three, he maps to settle better than mid-field with cover. Fast approaching his peak, we take him on trust here and he is well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
