BEST BET 🏆

Race 7:  No.2  DEVASTATING  ($3.90 with Ladbrokes)

The Tony Gollan-trained DEVASTATING is in top-shelf form this time in and looks well placed here to make it five-straight podium finishes in this contest. Last start, the Exceed And Excel gelding settled mid-field behind tearaway leader (Steady Ready, who lines up here as well) and finished strongly to arrive in time to collect second prize in the Class 3 over 1000m at Toowoomba. His 12 starts to date have resulted in three wins and five minor placings in a sound display of consistency. Steady Ready should lead again and with a solid pace on up front, the five-year-old should be finishing too strong for this field. He looks the best of the day.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 4:  No.3  HYDE  ($5.60 with BoomBet)

The Annabel Neasham-trained Hyde has won his past three starts and looks well placed here to add another picket to his fence in this contest. Last start, the hat-trick became a reality when he put away a BM70 field over 1650m at Doomben. That win made it four from his past five starts and he is now two from two over the mile trip. Cejay Graham has the job for this assignment and she has a 2kg claim up her sleeve as well. He will be at his peak here after four starts this time in and should be running on when it counts most.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 8:  No.5  KINGSTON’S HERE  ($7.30 with BoomBet)

Stuart Kendrick has opted to run KINGSTON’S HERE in this contest (who was a dual acceptor for Race 9) and after four starts this time in, the Rich Enuff gelding ticks enough boxes to be considered a solid each-way chance here. The six-year-old came off an impressive win in Class 6 company (over 1200m) at the Sunshine Coast two starts back when he met similar company last start, and had to settle for third prize over the shorter 1000m sprint. Tightened for room in the run home, he missed the boat and once clear, ran home strongly to claim the bronze medal, beaten just over a length on the line. Ideally drawn here gate three, he can avenge that last-start loss here at odds.
