BEST BET 🏆

Race 5:  No.10  NASHIRA  ($2.70 with bet365)

The O’Dea & Hoysted-trained NASHIRA has produced three-straight bridesmaid finishes this time in and now looks ready to win. Last start, the Zoustar gelding made it a hat-trick of runner-up finishes when he beat all but one home (again) in a Class 1 Hcp over 1050m at Doomben. He ran that trip out, 1.7 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best last-start effort here and posted the fastest final 400m and 200m sectionals for the race as well. Ben Thompson jumps aboard for his second ride on the four-year-old for this assignment where he maps to settle mid-field from gate seven. He went down as a $1.50 white-hot favourite last start, but gets his chance here to atone and looks set to do so as well.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 9:  No.10  MISS TAMBO  ($4.80 with Palmerbet)

The Tony Gollan-trained MISS TAMBO has found the podium in all three starts this time in and looks set to continue that trend today. Last start, the Smart Missile mare came from well back to miss the major prize by a whisker when she finished second in a Class 1 Hcp over 1200m at the Sunshine Coast. She jumped from the outside gate that day (13) and settled at the rear a dozen lengths off the pace. Kyle Wilson-Taylor weaved his way through traffic to finally find clean air and arrived one stride too late, having to settle for second prize that day. She ran her last 600m, 5.2 lengths quicker than benchmark, second-best here behind the $2 favourite (Huss On First) who resumes here after six months in the paddock. After the claim from Angela Jones, the four-year-old carries 2.5kgs less than last start and has come up with a dream draw in gate two today. Nearing her peak after three runs back, she looks right in this contest.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 8:  No.5  DIVINE COURAGE  ($7 Ladbrokes)

The Team Edmonds-trained DIVINE COURAGE has won two of his three starts this time in and despite his wide draw today is capable of taking out this event. Last start, the Divine Prophet gelding was shooting for the hat-trick when he found the city class gallopers just a little harder to overcome, finishing fourth in a BM70 Hcp over 1200m at Doomben. Although missing a podium finish that day, he still ran out his last 600m, 1.9 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field. He drops in grade today and has the premiership leading jockey James Orman in the saddle for the first time. With a trouble-free run, he can overcome the wide gate and be a real threat to these today.
